Spanish hotel group Barceló Hotel Group is in the final stages of negotiations to acquire the five-star GPRO Valparaíso Palace & Spa hotel in Palma, Mallorca, according to tourism outlet Hosteltur. The deal with current owner, Chinese group GPRO, has not yet been finalized, with completion possibly expected in early 2027.

The hotel, which opened in 1974 and has around 170 rooms, was acquired by GPRO in 2014 for 48 million euros. Since October 2025, the owner had been seeking an investor and a luxury brand for the property.

If completed, the acquisition would mark Barceló's ninth property in the Balearic Islands, where it already operates eight hotels. The hotel could be integrated into the Royal Hideaway Hotels & Resorts portfolio, which would be the brand's first property in the Balearics, accompanied by upgrade investments.

The move is part of Barceló's expansion strategy; the group operates more than 300 hotels worldwide, reported revenue of over 7 billion euros in 2025, and plans 500 million euros in investments for acquisitions and management agreements.
