# Crete approves environmental opinions for PHĀEA South Crete and Serita Beach

Crete's Regional Environmental and Spatial Planning Committee issued conditional positive opinions on two major tourism investments, in a session chaired by Deputy Regional Governor Nikos Xylouris.

The first concerns PHĀEA – South Crete, an integrated tourism development plan at the "Skouros" site in the Municipality of Viannos, with a total budget of €121,110,643.12. Classified as a Strategic Investment, the project is being developed by Myrina Village and includes a 5-star hotel with 140 rooms, 30 furnished tourist residences, dining facilities, a spa and sports facilities on a 155-acre site, with an estimated 83 new jobs.

The second investment is Serita Beach, a 5-star, 559-bed hotel unit in the Anisaras area of Chersonisos, developed by THE G CRETE MON AE. The case had been pending since 2025, when the opinion was postponed to allow the study's author to provide additional clarifications.

The positive opinion does not constitute final approval for either project, but represents a further step in the licensing process.

For PHĀEA – South Crete, the Viannos Municipal Council had previously issued a positive opinion, a stage we had already reported as part of the same licensing process.
