The Cape Town EDITION marks Marriott's EDITION brand debut on the African continent, opening at Quay 7 within the historic working harbour of the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. The hotel overlooks the new superyacht marina and faces Table Mountain.

The architecture was designed by Neri&Hu in collaboration with Cape Town-based firms, drawing on the warehouse structures that previously occupied the site. More than six million bricks were laid by hand in patterns that add texture to the façade. At the centre of the building sits "The Drum," a cylindrical space open to the sky above, with a spiralling staircase leading to an outdoor viewing platform.

The hotel has 142 guestrooms and suites, featuring bespoke furniture inspired by 19th-century travel trunks and rugs woven by KwaZulu-Natal-based Shuttleworth Weaving. The 240-square-metre Penthouse and 112-square-metre Harbour Suite top the property. Southern Guild curated a collection of artworks by African artists, while Design Network Africa sourced handcrafted pieces from across the continent.

The food and beverage programme is led by Executive Chef Phil Carmichael and beverage partner George Hunter, with venues including Shale restaurant, rooftop EAVE, and Punch Room. George Fleck, Global Brand Leader for EDITION, said the opening "marks an important milestone for the brand as we continue to grow in destinations that sit at the intersection of culture, creativity and global influence."
