Europe recorded record air traffic between June and August, according to Eurocontrol data. The organization reported an average of 35,959 daily flights, up 2.4% from last year.

According to Eurocontrol, the impact of the war in the Middle East was felt unevenly across countries: traffic fell in Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and Turkey, while it rose strongly in Albania, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia.

Greece recorded record passenger numbers at its airports, which, according to the report, pushed air traffic control capacity to its limits during the peak travel period.

Regarding delays caused by air traffic control staffing shortages, France remained the country with the most, accounting for 32% of the total. However, compared to 2025, flight delays in the first eight months of the year fell by 29%.

Greece's short-term rental market also posted strong figures over the same period, with RevPAR up 11.9%, according to AirDNA data.
