Inverlonan is progressing with the transformation of Ballygowan Farm, four miles east of Oban in Scotland, into a nine-bedroom hotel with restaurant. The opening is scheduled for November. The project marks the company's latest restoration effort, following the 2020 launch of its three off-grid bothies.

The project, overseen by architect Kirsten Mackenzie, retains the existing stone buildings, adapted using local materials and ecological building techniques. The original farmhouse will hold three bedrooms, five rooms will sit within the former Byre, and a restored 16th-century stone bothy, The Blackhouse, will become a standalone suite.

All rooms will feature a super-king bed and en-suite bathroom, with three Byre rooms including stone baths. Two farmhouse rooms will also have bunk beds, allowing the farmhouse to sleep up to 10 guests. Interiors will combine work from Scottish and local artists with bespoke handmade elements.

The new 24-cover restaurant will serve an eight-course menu in a single sitting at 7pm, centred on woodfire cooking, with more than 90% of produce sourced from the estate or Scotland's west coast. The restaurant will be led by chef Tim Kensett, whose past experience includes The River Cafe in London, Storico in New York, GoldenEye in Jamaica, and The Fife Arms in Braemar.

Guest facilities will include honesty bars, a larder and in-room provision boxes instead of conventional minibars, along with a communal sauna and swimming area at Loch Nell beach. The three existing bothies will continue operating alongside the new hotel.
