Mereshi Safari Camp is the latest project from Delaware Investments in Tanzania, following Mapito Safari Camp, with design again led by Dunia Design. Roughly 95 percent of its materials, furnishings and equipment, from canvas and timber to FF&E, were sourced and produced in Tanzania, and more than 150 Tanzanians worked on the build.

The architecture takes its cue from the acacia tree, blending timber, canvas and woven details, with the layout shaped around the site's natural features to minimize ground disturbance and vegetation removal.

Eighteen elevated suites are spread across 55 acres of open savannah. Each measures 95 square metres, with 50 indoors and 45 given to outdoor living, facing east to catch the first light. Inside, dark greenwood furniture, open shelving and locally sourced textiles set the tone.

The camp is expected to create around 100 permanent jobs, with more than 90 percent held by Tanzanians, and at least five young women will live and train on site through a hospitality mentorship developed by the Give a Future Foundation with Hope for Girls and Women.
