Aldemar plans two new hotels in Skafidia, Ilia

Aldemar subsidiary EPTEA has secured environmental approvals for two hotels totalling 928 beds in Skafidia.

Aldemar, owned by the Angelopoulos family, is now concentrating its hotel activity in the Western Peloponnese after exiting Crete and Rhodes. Its subsidiary EPTEA has launched two new hotel projects in Skafidia with a combined capacity of 928 beds, for which environmental approvals were granted in 2025.

The first project involves a 228-bed five-star hotel with a wellness center, on a seaside plot of about 53 acres, with a budget of around €22.5 million. The second envisages a larger five-star complex with 700 beds on about 100 acres, including rooms, suites, dining facilities, 73 pools and sports facilities.

The two projects are designed to share common support facilities. The environmental approvals mark a significant licensing step, though they do not by themselves confirm the start of construction work.

The shift toward Ilia followed a series of divestments: in late 2024 Aldemar transferred the Knossos Royal and Knossos Villas hotels in Crete to the Karatzis group, after earlier selling Royal Mare and Cretan Village to the Mitsis group and transferring three hotels in Rhodes to HIG Capital.
