Delphi municipality sets €100 monthly rent to reopen Panourgia hostel
Delphi's municipal committee set an annual rent of €1,200 for leasing the long-idle Panourgia hostel, advancing plans for its reopening.
Delphi's municipal committee approved an annual rental value of €1,200, or €100 per month, for the property, advancing the next stage toward its use. An expression of interest has already been submitted for leasing and operating the hostel, following the municipal council's approval of a direct lease. The decision sets the rent to continue the process and does not constitute completion of the lease.
The property is located within the settlement of Panourgia, in the Kallieis municipal unit, and previously housed the village's old primary school. It is a stone-built structure of about 165 square meters on a plot of roughly 521.70 square meters, converted into a 14-bed hostel with reception areas and auxiliary facilities. Despite this existing infrastructure, it has remained inactive for years.
The rental value took into account the property's location, size and capacity, as well as its prolonged inactivity. According to the municipality's assessment, the long dormancy complicates immediate commercial use, and maintenance and adaptation costs may be needed before it can receive guests again. The seasonality of visits in the area was also factored in.
The property had previously been leased in 2012 for a monthly rent of €120, an amount considered a historical reference rather than the basis for the current valuation, given changed operating conditions. The new €100 monthly rent reflects, according to the municipality, an effort to combine a reasonable financial return with the reopening of an underused property.
