Deputy Tourism Minister visits Pieria to discuss regional tourism development
Anna Karamanli met local officials in Pieria to discuss infrastructure, mountain tourism and the "Tourism for All" program.
Deputy Tourism Minister Anna Karamanli visited Pieria as part of a government tour, taking part in a working meeting at the Pieria Chamber of Commerce with representatives of local government and tourism bodies. The meeting included members of parliament, the Deputy Regional Governor of Pieria, local mayors and the President of the Pieria Chamber.
The Deputy Minister referred to legislative measures and infrastructure projects, including the National Observatory and 13 Regional Observatories for Sustainable Tourism Development, as well as the new Special Spatial Planning Framework for Tourism in Pieria. She also discussed the "Tourism for All" program and a new campaign for mountain tourism, mentioning the inclusion of Mount Olympus on UNESCO's World Heritage List.
During the visit, reference was made to projects funded through the Recovery and Resilience Fund to improve beaches in the municipalities of Katerini, Pydna-Kolindros and Dio-Olympos, as well as changes to regulations on biological treatment systems for camping businesses. The upgrade of the Ministry's Tourism Education and Training Schools into Experimental Schools was also discussed, with an emphasis on cooperation with SETE and XEE.
The Deputy Minister also visited the Elatochori Ski Center, areas linked to the route of the Apostle Paul, and beaches in the Municipality of Katerini, where projects to improve accessibility for people with mobility difficulties were presented.
