Experimental Roma opens new hotel on Via Veneto
Experimental Roma has opened in a former bank building on Via Veneto, featuring 82 rooms designed by Rodolphe Parente.
The Experimental Roma hotel has opened on Via Veneto, the street associated with the Dolce Vita era of 1950s and 1960s Italy. The building formerly housed a bank and now contains 82 rooms, divided into two main design categories.
The first room category evokes a theatrical Roman bedroom atmosphere, with light filtered through interior shutters and headboards inspired by antique drapery. The second category takes on a more refined, almost futuristic aesthetic, featuring mineral patinas, two-tone lacquered ceilings and ribbed stainless-steel headboards. Artworks throughout the rooms reference artists such as Cy Twombly and Christo.
The hotel's public spaces include the Experimental Cocktail Club Roma, serving a seasonal cocktail menu made with vintage spirits and local ingredients. A rooftop area offers a bar overlooking the city, a swimming pool and a terrace.
The hotel's design is credited to Rodolphe Parente, who describes the project as a 'French interpretation' of Italy, drawing on references to Italian designers such as Gio Ponti and Carlo Scarpa combined with 1970s-era elements.
