Fairmont Opens Its 100th Hotel in New Orleans
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts announced the opening of Fairmont New Orleans, its 100th hotel globally, marking the brand's return to the city after two decades.
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts announced the opening of Fairmont New Orleans, located in the Central Business District near the French Quarter and Caesars Superdome. The 250-room property offers more than 19,000 square feet of meeting and event space, and marks the brand's 100th hotel globally as well as its return to the city after two decades.
Developed by Kailas Companies and operated by Fairmont, the hotel occupies 17 stories of the former Bank of New Orleans building, a 31-story landmark designed in 1970 by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. Original sidewalks, entry canopy, lobby floors and first- and second-floor concrete walls have been fully restored.
Omer Acar, CEO of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, said the opening was "not just opening a hotel" but welcoming "the soulful spirit of New Orleans back into the global Fairmont family." The hotel partners with chef Emeril Lagasse on two restaurants, Delmonico Steakhouse and The Café by Emeril, with a rooftop pool, cocktail bar and a 10,000-square-foot spa set to open in early December.
The property offers nine primary event venues, including two roughly 4,000-square-foot ballrooms, six meeting rooms and an executive boardroom.
