Five new hotel projects advance in Crete, Milos, Santorini and Rhodes
Environmental approvals, new permits and revisions move forward hotel investments across island destinations, led by the PHAEA project in Viannos.
A series of hotel projects are advancing through different licensing stages in Crete, Milos, Santorini and Rhodes. In Chania, the Region's Environment and Spatial Planning Committee gave positive opinions under conditions for three projects: a new 499-bed five-star hotel at 'Asprouliano' in Georgioupoli by ANAX Xenodochiaki, the existing four-star VANTARIS BEACH with 130 beds, and a new 212-bed five-star hotel at 'Aptera' in Daratsos by DOMES KRITIS 2.
In Lasithi, positive opinions were given for MARE VILLAGE, a four-star, 280-bed property in Koutsounari, and for the Environmental Impact Study of INNSIDE ELOUNDA.
Meanwhile, the Viannos Municipal Council backed 'PHAEA – South Crete,' a €121.1 million investment by Myrina Village, a subsidiary of PHAEA linked to the Sbokos and Vassilakis families. The project, spanning 155 stremmata in Skouros, includes a 140-room five-star hotel and 30 tourist residences, with total capacity up to 578 beds.
In Milos, a revised permit was issued to convert seven tourist residences into a 37-room, 97-bed five-star hotel. In Santorini, approval was given to convert a residential complex into a three-star hotel in Emporio, while in Pefki, Rhodes, a full building permit has been issued for a new five-star property on a 14,000 sq.m. plot.
The Viannos council's positive opinion confirms the progress of the PHAEA project we had already reported on.
