Geotechnical survey approved for new 5-star hotel in Psyrri

Athens municipality approved a geotechnical survey for the foundation of a new 5-star hotel in Psyrri.

The Athens municipality's building department has approved a small-scale construction works permit for a property at Agatharchou 8-10 and Louka Nika 10, in Psyrri. The approval covers a geotechnical survey for the foundation of a 5-star hotel unit.

The permit allows for test soil trenches and excavations, a stage that precedes the design of the foundation and provides data on subsoil characteristics.

The Psyrri area has in recent years attracted interest for new hotel developments and conversions of buildings into tourist accommodation. Other projects in the historic center include a boutique 5-star hotel near Mitropoleos Square, a unit by Anatolia Hospitality in Makrygianni, and an investment in Metaxourgeio.

According to data from the Greek Hotel Chamber, upscale hotels in Athens increased from 43 in 2020 to 64 in 2025.
