Hilton Brings Motto Brand to Japan With New Kyoto Hotel

Hilton has signed an agreement for its first Motto by Hilton hotel in Japan, located in Kyoto. Motto by Hilton Kyoto Shijo Karasuma is scheduled to open in 2029 and will bring Hilton's Kyoto portfolio to seven hotels.

Hilton opened its first Kyoto hotel, ROKU KYOTO, LXR Hotels & Resorts, in 2021. An upcoming Curio Collection by Hilton hotel is also planned for the city.

Alongside its expansion in luxury and lifestyle brands, the company is preparing to bring more affordable brands to Japan, including Hampton by Hilton and Spark by Hilton.

Clarence Tan, Hilton's senior vice president of development, said that "luxury and lifestyle will remain a major growth driver in Japan's hotel market, with mid-market brands becoming a more meaningful part of the mix."
