L Catterton launches new luxury hotel platform in Europe

Investment firm L Catterton is forming a new real estate platform with Cedar Capital Partners targeting 10 to 15 luxury hotels in Europe and North America.

L Catterton, the roughly $40 billion consumer-focused investment firm, has announced a new strategy in the hospitality sector. In partnership with Cedar Capital Partners, it is forming a new real estate platform aiming to acquire or develop 10 to 15 luxury hotels across Europe and North America.

The move follows a series of travel-related investments by the firm, including stakes in AmaWaterways, Flexjet, and Fever, as well as its interest in acquiring British tour operator Audley Travel, a deal that ultimately fell through.

L Catterton is partly tied to LVMH and the Arnault family, who hold 40% of the firm's economic interests and 20% of voting interests, according to a 2023 regulatory filing, while L Catterton retains sole discretion over investment decisions.
