Leonardo Hotels takes over two properties on Berlin's Alexanderplatz
Leonardo Hotels has signed a 20-year lease with Aroundtown for two properties totaling 624 rooms in central Berlin.
Leonardo Hotels is strengthening its presence in Berlin, taking over the operation of two hotels on Alexanderplatz totaling 624 rooms. The agreement with real estate company Aroundtown provides for 20-year leases on each property.
The former H2 and H4 hotels have been renamed Leonardo Smart Berlin Alexanderplatz and Hotel Berlin Alexanderplatz by Leonardo Hotels, respectively. The latter has 336 rooms and suites, a restaurant, bar, gym, sauna and more than ten event spaces, with capacity for over 700 people, catering mainly to business travelers and conference attendees.
Leonardo Smart Berlin Alexanderplatz has 288 rooms, targeting leisure travelers on short stays. It offers quad rooms for families, a breakfast restaurant, bike rental and parking.
The move is part of Leonardo Hotels' broader partnership with Aroundtown, which already includes the long-term lease of the Badischer Hof in Baden-Baden. Aroundtown CEO Barak Bar-Hen said the company had "secured an experienced hotel operator" for the two properties. Jan Heringa of Leonardo Hotels Central Europe called the takeover a "significant step" in the partnership with Aroundtown.
Leonardo Hotels, the European arm of Fattal Hotel Group, currently operates more than 300 hotels in 21 countries.
