Mandarin Oriental breaks ground on new Miami hotel project
Mandarin Oriental and Swire Properties have broken ground on a hotel and branded residences project at Brickell Key, Miami.
Mandarin Oriental held a groundbreaking ceremony at Brickell Key in Miami for its new Mandarin Oriental, Miami hotel and adjacent branded residences. The event brought together leadership from Mandarin Oriental, developer Swire Properties and project partners.
Swire Properties, which is developing the project, is one of South Florida's leading developers of office, hotel and condominium properties. Mandarin Oriental chief executive Laurent Kleitman said the company "has undergone a significant transformation in recent years" and that the new Miami development would embody that evolution.
According to the company, the groundbreaking followed strong market response to the branded residences portion of the project, with sales surpassing $1.7 billion to date. Swire Properties chief executive Tim Blackburn called the groundbreaking an important milestone in the company's long-term vision for Brickell Key.
The Miami project is part of a global portfolio of 16 operating Mandarin Oriental Residences, with 20 additional residences set to open by 2031, including projects in Kanai, Riviera Maya, Grand Cayman, Puerto Rico and West Palm Beach.
