Marriott Surpasses 300 Hotels in Mexico as New Projects Advance
Marriott International reached 300 properties in Mexico, with a pipeline of 76 hotels and more than 10 new openings planned before the end of 2026.
Marriott International announced it has reached 300 properties in Mexico, accounting for more than 44,000 rooms across 25 brands. The company's development pipeline includes 76 hotels representing more than 12,000 rooms as of the second quarter of 2026, with conversions accounting for 35 percent of the signed pipeline. Marriott expects to open more than 10 additional hotels in Mexico before the end of 2026.
Alejandro Acevedo, regional vice president of development for Marriott International in the Caribbean and Latin America, said reaching the milestone "reflects the strength of our global brands and the momentum that has positioned us as the leading hospitality company in Mexico."
In June, Marriott opened The St. Regis Costa Mujeres Resort, Cancún, and in May completed the conversion of The Westin Playa Vallarta, its first all-inclusive property in Mexico. Conversion-friendly brands such as The Luxury Collection, Autograph Collection, and Tribute Portfolio Hotels are driving expansion, with recent conversions including Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun and Paraiso de la Bonita, Riviera Maya.
Upcoming openings include Casa Nizuc, a Tribute Portfolio Resort, expected in November, alongside an agreement with BlueBay Group for an all-inclusive Marriott Hotels resort in Riviera Maya. Through an agreement with The Reef Resorts & Spa, three properties will convert to join Tribute Portfolio Hotels, adding 676 rooms and marking the brand's debut in Playa del Carmen.
Marriott is also expanding into secondary markets, with recent openings including Sheraton León in April, Fairfield by Marriott San Luis Potosí Los Lagos in July, and Courtyard by Marriott Torreón in August. Further developments are planned for 2027 in the states of Chihuahua, Michoacán, and Puebla.
