Minor Hotels Expands Into Hanoi With New Avani+ Property

Minor Hotels announced the 310-room Avani+ Hanoi, set to open in 2028, as part of a strategy to expand beyond its beach resorts in Vietnam.

Minor Hotels, which for more than two decades concentrated its Vietnam presence in leisure destinations such as Hoi An, Mui Ne, and Quy Nhon, is now moving toward the urban centers of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

According to Omar Romero, the company's chief development and luxury officer, the Vietnamese market has changed and now offers opportunities in corporate, meetings, and domestic travel that its resort-heavy footprint had not reached.

The first step in this direction is the 310-room Avani+ Hanoi, announced in September and expected to open in 2028 inside the mixed-use Hinode City development, which includes a lifestyle mall and 1,099 residential and serviced apartments.

Minor is targeting corporate travelers, meetings business, short-stay leisure, and long-stay guests, with South Korea and China as key source markets alongside Japan, Southeast Asia, Europe, and Australia. Romero said domestic Vietnamese travelers are also an important part of the mix.

The company said it is actively looking for more urban opportunities, with Ho Chi Minh City a priority, though it named no specific projects.
