Morocco plans 60,000 new hotel beds by 2030 World Cup

Morocco is planning 60,000 new hotel beds by the 2030 World Cup, as Radisson expands its portfolio from 11 to 30 hotels.

Morocco's Ministry of Tourism is planning to add 60,000 new hotel beds by the 2030 FIFA World Cup. The country's tourism development body, SMIT, is participating as an institutional investment partner in the 3rd Morocco Showcase, to be held on November 26 in Casablanca, bringing together international hotel groups, institutional investors and local businesses.

Radisson Hotel Group plans to expand its portfolio in the country from 11 to 30 hotels by 2030. According to the 2026 Hotel Chain Development Pipelines in Africa report by W Hospitality Group, Morocco ranks second in Africa for hotel development by international chains, with 75 hotels and 10,606 rooms in the planning or development phase, 70% of which are expected to open in 2026-2027.

Erwan Garnier, deputy vice president of development for Africa at Radisson Hotel Group, said Morocco "offers significant opportunities for hotel development, thanks to infrastructure investments." He added that "as preparations for the World Cup intensify, an opportunity is created to develop hotels with long-term commercial prospects."

The Morocco Showcase will address topics such as hotel performance in key cities, the entry of smaller brands and ecotourism businesses, and financing for mixed-use developments. The event will conclude with presentations from the cities of Casablanca, Tangier, Marrakech and Rabat to investors.
