Ruby opens first French hotel in Marseille
Ruby Lilou, a 237-room hotel designed by Gensler, occupies the former BNP Paribas headquarters in Marseille.
German hotel group Ruby is opening its first property in France, Ruby Lilou, in Marseille, located between the Vieux Port and the La Joliette district. The building is the former headquarters of BNP Paribas in the city, converted into a 237-room hotel by Gensler.
William Yon, Principal and Director at Gensler, said the design demonstrates the potential of existing buildings to support new uses while retaining their architectural heritage.
Rooms are organised into Nest, Cosy, Lovely and Wow categories, drawing on yacht-inspired design elements. The hotel also includes a 300 sqm rooftop terrace overlooking the Mediterranean and Ruby's signature 24-hour bar and café.
Opening alongside the hotel is Ruby Yani, introducing the Ruby Workspaces concept to France for the first time, with more than 126 workstations, private offices and meeting rooms. Michael Struck, founder and CEO of Ruby Group, said the opening marks the brand's debut in France.
