Sani Resort pays €2.49m to Kassandra municipality for planned expansion

The company behind Sani Resort will pay €2.49m to Kassandra municipality instead of ceding land, as part of the resort's planned building expansion.

A ruling by the Decentralized Administration of Macedonia-Thrace provides for a one-off payment of €2,486,409.07 from the company behind Sani Resort to the Kassandra municipality. The amount replaces an obligation to cede 44,028.53 square meters of land, part of the planning process for the resort's future building expansion in Halkidiki.

The resort occupies a single property of 369,183.30 square meters in the Sani area of Kassandra and includes the Sani Beach Hotel, Sani Asterias, Sani Dunes and Porto Sani units. So far 53,471.25 square meters have been built, while total construction is expected to reach 71,082.66 square meters following the urban planning consolidation and the planned expansion.

The company had requested in March 2026 to convert its land-cession obligation into a cash payment, offering an alternative property of 148,000.54 square meters in the same area, whose assessed value matched the amount to be paid. Kassandra's municipal council accepted the request in May 2026, though the approval was ultimately deemed automatic due to delayed opinions from relevant authorities.

The funds will be deposited in a dedicated municipal account and used for cleaning, lighting, social and technical infrastructure, and tourism development projects. The ruling clarifies it does not replace other permits required for the expansion's implementation.
