Signia Hilton Savannah reaches structural topping out milestone

The new 444-room hotel in Savannah, Georgia, connected to the convention center, has completed its structural topping-out phase.

Signia Hilton Savannah, a 444-room hotel set to serve as the headquarters property for the Savannah Convention Center, reached a major construction milestone with the topping out of the building's highest structural beam. The ceremony brought together the Savannah-Georgia Convention Center Authority (SGCCA), Hilton, contractor Brasfield & Gorrie, developer Songy Highroads, and local officials.

The project is scheduled to open in 2028. More than 1,200 individual workers have contributed to the project so far, with over 300 on-site daily. Crews have poured more than 27,000 cubic yards of concrete, installed 2,700 tons of reinforcing steel, and completed 1,135 auger piles totaling more than 81,000 linear feet of deep foundations supporting the nearly 200-foot-tall tower.

Kelvin Moore, general manager of the Savannah Convention Center, said the milestone "represents the continued realization of a vision for Savannah's convention and meetings future." John Fulford of Brasfield & Gorrie said the hotel will let the convention center "compete for the larger, longer-stay conventions." Hilton's Americas president, Danny Hughes, called it "a reflection of our confidence in the city as a premier destination."

The hotel is owned by the SGCCA and developed in partnership with the Georgia World Congress Center Authority, with Hilton managing the property and Songy Highroads and Matthews Southwest Hospitality serving as co-developers. It will include more than 34,000 square feet of meeting and event space, a 13,000-square-foot ballroom, an outdoor pool, and five food and beverage venues, with the culinary program developed alongside hospitality company Grey Spaces.
