The Hoxton to open second German hotel in 2027

Lifestyle brand The Hoxton will open a 188-room hotel in Hamburg, housed in a 1950s building.

The Hoxton, founded in London in 2006, has announced it will open a new property in Hamburg in 2027. It will be the brand's second hotel in Germany, following openings also planned in Oslo and Madrid next year.

The hotel will occupy a 1950s building on Alter Wall, in the Nikolaiviertel district, spanning ten floors with 188 rooms across six categories, including 32 interconnecting rooms. It will feature a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant on the ground floor, a rooftop seafood restaurant overlooking the Elbphilharmonie, a private dining room for up to 20 guests and an all-day lobby bar.

The property will also house The Apartment, the brand's signature events space, with three meeting rooms, a pantry kitchen and a private terrace overlooking the canal. Interiors are designed by Swedish studio Stylt Trampoli, drawing on the history of the surrounding neighbourhood.

Cédric Gobilliard, COO of Ennismore Europe, said Hamburg "is a city known for its maritime character, thriving creative scene and vibrant cultural landscape." Erik Florvaag, CEO of The Chocolate on the Pillow Group, called Hamburg "a particularly attractive market for the hospitality industry in Germany."
