The Nell New York to open at Rockefeller Plaza in 2027

Aspen Hospitality, a division of Aspen One, has unveiled the design vision for The Nell New York, a forthcoming property in the Nell Hotels collection set to open in autumn 2027 at 10 Rockefeller Plaza. The 134-room hotel will be the first and only hotel within Rockefeller Center and New York City's only Relais & Châteaux property.

The design brings together two New York-based firms, Rockwell Group and Pierre & Co. Rockwell Group led the design of public spaces, including the arrival experience, reception, seventh-floor dining and social areas, wine lounge and cellar, spa, fitness centre and meeting venues, while Pierre & Co. designed the guestrooms and suites. Both studios drew on Rockefeller Center's Art Deco architecture and materiality.

"We never wanted The Nell New York to feel like a hotel that could be anywhere," said Julie Frank, Vice President of Design at Aspen Hospitality, noting that the Art Deco architecture served as a point of departure aimed at a current, residential interpretation rather than a recreation of the era.

The seventh floor houses reception, dining, a bar and a private wine lounge and cellar inspired by the wine culture of The Little Nell in Aspen, while the eighth floor contains the spa and fitness centre. Pierre Josselin, founder of Pierre & Co., said the goal was rooms that feel considered and purposeful, but never over-designed.
