Tourism Ministry, University of Piraeus partner on training material
A programmatic agreement will develop educational material for the ministry's tourism training schools.
The Tourism Ministry and the University of Piraeus signed a programmatic agreement to develop educational material covering all of the ministry's training institutions. The agreement was signed by Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni and Secretary General Ioanna Christou, along with University Rector Dimosthenis Kyriazis and project lead Nikolaos Filippas.
The material will target Vocational Training Schools (SAEK), Higher Tourism Education Schools (ASTE) and Tour Guide Schools. It will include research on educators' needs, teaching material, student worksheets, a teacher's guide, assessment tools and digital and audiovisual content.
Thematic units will cover the development and significance of tourism, its link to sustainable development, Greece as a destination, alternative forms of tourism, and industry skills. The educational path will conclude with a final project in which students design an innovative, sustainable destination.
Kefalogianni said that "the quality and sustainability of Greek tourism are directly linked to knowledge, skills and education."
