Zagori municipality to lease unfinished building in Vovousa for hotel use
Zagori's municipal council approved a change of use and 25-year lease of an unfinished building in Vovousa for tourism use.
Zagori's municipal council unanimously approved a change of use for an unfinished municipal building in Vovousa, allowing it to operate as a tourist accommodation and a food or beverage establishment. The property will be leased to a private operator for 25 years through a public auction, aiming to secure the funds needed to complete construction.
The building, originally intended to house community offices and a rural medical clinic, consists of two floors of 103.54 square meters each plus a basement. Construction began with funding from the "Thiseas" and "Filodimos" programs but remained unfinished due to a lack of additional funds for completion.
The change of use allows the property to function as a hotel, guesthouse or rented rooms, as well as a commercial establishment such as a café, grill house, restaurant or mini market. Interested bidders must submit a business plan outlining proposed investments and works.
The lease amount will be set by a committee including the mayor, a municipal councilor and the municipality's civil engineer, while the auction itself will be conducted by the Municipal Executive Committee.
