Leonardo Hotels acquires two properties in Germany

The group adds properties in Regensburg and Kiel and completes a renovation in Magdeburg.

Leonardo Hotels Central Europe is strengthening its presence in Germany, adding two new hotels to its portfolio and completing the upgrade of a third property. The moves involve Regensburg, Kiel and Magdeburg.

On October 15 the group acquired the former Holiday Inn Express Regensburg, now rebranded as Leonardo Smart Regensburg with 144 rooms near the old town. On October 21 it also acquired the Steigenberger Conti Hansa in Kiel, rebranded as Leonardo Royal Conti Hansa Kiel, with 164 rooms opposite the Baltic Quay cruise terminals. This marks the group's first presence in the city.

In Magdeburg, the former IntercityHotel, acquired the previous year, has been operating since October 19 as Leonardo Magdeburg City Center, following a full renovation of rooms, the restaurant, bar and lobby.

Leonardo Hotels Central Europe CEO Yoram Biton said growth in Germany is taking place "on multiple levels," with the new acquisitions strengthening the group's geographic footprint.

The same group had recently signed a lease for two hotels on Berlin's Alexanderplatz, totaling 624 rooms.
